Thomas Mainguy (born 1987) is currently working for his PhD thesis in mathematics. He began practising historical fencing at the age of 8, first under the direction of Master J.L. Bouglé, then Master J.L. Pommerolles. He mainly studied the German school of fencing, but he is also interested in all types of European martial arts, from antiquity to the late renaissance. He is a co-founder and member of the french group "le Chapitre des Armes".
