I'm a PhD candidate at the University of Washington, currently writing my dissertation on Talhoffer and Kal's inclusion of the female combatant in their Fechtbuecher. I received a Fulbright grant to Germany in 2008-2009 to complete my manuscript studies and have seen and analyzed all of Kal's manuscripts, most of Talhoffer's, and several other related manuscripts, including two of Wilhalm's. I have presented papers on this subject at the American Historical Association, the Renaissance Society of America, and the International Congress on Medieval Studies.
