Publication History
According to the preface, the Viggiani's dying wish to his brother was that his treatise not be published for at least fifteen years. His brother complied, and though the text was completed in 1551, the presentation manuscript (Codex 10723) wasn't presented to Maximilian II (1527-1576) until 1567. The first published edition was released in 1575, printed in Venice, Italy by Giorgio Angelieri. A second edition was published in Bologna in 1588 by Zachara Cavalcabo.
