  1. In fencing there is the Zwerhau, which is referred to in this manuscript as Twir and in other sources also as Twirch, from Zwerch = "slanted cross". On the one hand this meaning would yield no real sense in conjunction with the wrestling here, on the other hand it was have spelled with "b", even if this wasn't voiced, which is highly unusual. In the Rhenish Dictionary, however, is found the term Pirch = Pferch = "enclosure". This meaning makes more sense in wrestling and could possibly be translated as Umklammerung ("embrace") here.
