Friedrich Fiala, later the Bishop of Basel, wrote in 1884 that several books were found in a house in the town and among them an illustrated book of fighting.1 ... 1. According to Jaeggi.

The fighting and fencing book now consists of 30 sheets, due to the difference between the old and the new foliation payment page must have included at least 62 of the amount originally Blatter. The work was probably already in 1689 in Solothurn, a possession note stating"jetzund This Buoch geherdet me Carly Anthoni Kieffer, burgers and Moller in Solothurn 1689"; Auserd exists another entry "Ex libris Victoris Oberli, 1775", both persons are for Solothurn verburgt. Another entry shows "Anno 1423 Apprellen the 6th: Is the book might been revered by my brother Mr. Hans von noble castle, Mr. Fels to glow. Petter Wehlenmer from Buchold ", but does not match the font to the specified entry, so warden believed possible that this entry was inserted supplement, enhance the book. The 57 ink drawings are aquarellliiert, the handwriting has no text. Some of the leaves are damaged. An analysis of the watermarks of the paper coming from Italy led to a date around1506-1514. This finding is also reflected in the Inserts accepted by us dependence of the manuscripts among themselves, so the solo Thun probably originated as a copy of the Vienna Code.
