Michael R. Rhum is a student of medieval and Renaissance martial arts living in Chicago, where he is a member of the Chicago Swordplay Guild. His primary weapon is the longsword, in the Fiore tradition. He is also keenly interested in medieval paleography and critical methodologies for the interpretation of late-medieval fighting manuals. He holds a PhD in social anthropology and has published work on Southeast Asian manuscript studies.
