Hello my name is Patryk. I was born in Poland and emigrated to US at age of thirteen. I never held sword in my hand. Not then and not now at my fortieth birthday. I can tell the difference between rapier and a saber and the back-sword. And I know what several other types of swords but never held any of them. I'm 6 ft tall and weigh 180 lbs. So I'm relatively tall and relatively thin. I'm not very muscular and I'm not the greatest of athletes. At 40 years old I'm not sure if I'll be able to catch up to people who have been doing this since childhood. But I'em going to give it a try. I generally learn things quickly but not necessarily athletic things. As every boy I was interested in swords as a kid. But with many other things that I needed to do that interest faded. Now I find myself with lots of time on my hands and I wish to spend it productively. I have no experience in martial arts of any kind. My brother does have some experience with them and what little I know I'v learned from him. My right arm is more dexterous than my left but my left is stronger. I feel more comfortable in southpaw stands than orthodox. If possible besides Western European sword fighting I would like to learn Eastern and Central European sword fighting. If possible with husar saber and cross type fighting used in Poland at 17th century. I would also like to know how to use rapier, Napoleonic saber, and Italian back sward if possible. I hope to find as many book on the techniques of using those types of swords along with longsword of course, as possible. Hopefully so i can practice as well.
