Discorso del Tornear a Piedi ("Discourse on Foot Tournaments ") is an Italian fencing manual written by Giovanni Battista Gaiani and published in 1619.
It is dedicated to 'Conte Guido San Georgio', probably Guido Biandrate San Giorgio Aldobrandino, a Savoyard general.
In 1605 the Piedmontese ‘Guido Biandrate di San Giorgio’ was recorded as Maestro di Campo of a Milanese tercio in Flanders for the Hapsburgs, but due to increasing tensions between the Spanish Hapsburgs and the French leaning Savoy, left for Charles Emmanuel’s army in 1607, and led the Savoy infantry during the First War of Monferrato. After the war, he was compensated for properties lost.
