The first quire is inserted to bring the page count up to the 58 folia (including blank pages) that was recorded for ms. 75 in the 1467 inventory of the d'Este library, which is the only one that it could potentially be. An alternative construction would be a first quire of ten folia and reducing the final quire by two.

Original collation reconstruction

This diagram unnests quire Ⅱ into two separate quinternions, and reorders the bifolia of the extracted quire Ⅱb to better reflect the sequence of plays found in other versions of the text. This also restores the pattern of skin and flesh sides seen in the rest of the manuscript.

Since it seems unlikely that a manuscript would be created with four quinternions and a binion, and since there's a clear discontinuity between 42v and 43r, I've also inserted blank folia to bring it up to the same length as the rest of the quires.

The first quire is inserted to bring the page count up to the 58 folia (including blank pages) that was recorded for ms. 75 in the 1467 inventory of the d'Este library, which is the only one that it could potentially be. An alternative construction would be a first quire of ten folia and reducing the final quire by two.
