Joachim Meyer's A Foundational Description of the Art of Combat
In 2014, in partnership with the Meyer Freifechter Guild I launched a Kickstarter campaign to support the restoration and printing of the fourteen longsword illustrations from German fencing master Joachim Meyer's 1570 treatise A Foundational Description of the Art of Combat. The response the phenomenal, and we ultimately raised nearly $12,000.
Meeting our final stretch goal allowed me to release restored versions of these images under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0). This license lets you remix, tweak, and build upon my work non-commercially, as long as you credit me and license your new creations under identical terms.
You can download 300 dpi versions below at their original size (7.25" x 4.75"). There are also options to order other versions of each image, including painted prints and larger digital files (up to 900 dpi or vectorized) for print and commercial purposes.
