The first play with the buckler

from the down strike, Mark, when you drive the downstrike to the man, then attack with the pommel of your sword inward on your buckler to your thumb, and stab him from below up to his face, and wind against his sword, and let it catch over -

The second play

Note, from the upstrike, when he strikes up to you, Then twist to your left side to engage him against your shield, then you stand thus in two shields, then twist to your right side opening, and attack him toward the mouth, If he wards this and raises the shield up, Then take his left leg. This goes for both sides -

The third play

Note, from the buckler: from the change strike on the left side attack from the buckler strongly above you into his sword, and then from the left strike him to his head, and twist open, and stab him to the mouth, if he raises with the shield, and with the sword, and wards this, Then strike with the long edge against his right leg, This goes for both sides -

The fourth play

Note, from the middle strike, make the thwart to both sides, and the vertex with the long edge, and stab him below to his codpiece -

The fifth play

Note, from the plunge strike: do as if you would stab to his left side over his shield, and drive with your point through below, and stab him inside of his shield, and just then twist to your left side, if he wards this, Then take his right leg with the long edge -

The sixth play

Note, take your blade, to the buckler held in your left hand, and twist against him with the half sword, If he strikes or stabs to you above to the face or below to the legs, Then let your right hand drive from the grip and displace him with the shield, and with sword, and grasp then against the shield with your right hand to his right side well below you, and push him to your right side, Thus you have taken his shield.
