After a couple of foil fencing classes in college, ca 1987, I was introduced to the Society for Creative Anachronism. As an English-only consumer at a time when the Internet was still new to most of us, my options for historical documentation were limited. Years later, I am thrilled to be so overwhelmed with an abundance of translated original material to study.
At best, I am a hobbyist with a deep interest in finding the historical roots of my chosen sport/art. I am particularly interested in the pedagogy--how were our arts taught? I love to fight/fence--rapier, sidesword, sword & buckler, saber.
I am a regular student of Maestro David Coblentz and Maestri Dori Coblentz at the Decatur School of Arms, Decatur, GA. DSA has certified me as an Instructor at Arms (Examined by a panel of three acknowledged Maestri and a Provost).
