A retired academic of international relations and public administration (because the devil's in the details), I have long studied swordsmanship in the European tradition. Nowadays, I can be found sailing the Santa Barbara Channel & the Channel Islands, and puttering about on my boat in Ventura Harbor. While it isn't the easiest to keep swords Bristol Fashioned on a boat at sea, I nevertheless find the quotidian tasks of training-then-polishing to be an agreeable avocation.
