The MS Chart.A.558 is a German fencing manual created by Hans Talhoffer, probably in 1443.[1] The original currently rests in the holdings of the Universitäts- und Forschungsbibliothek Erfurt/Gotha in Gotha, Germany. This is the earliest of Talhoffer's five known manuscripts, and was probably created for his own personal use as a visual aid for his students.
