Fechter & Ringer ("Fencers and Wrestlers") is a series of prints based on sketches by Dutch artist Maarten van Heemskerck and printed in 1552.[1] This title was appended by Paulus Hector Mair in his copy (Codex I.6.2º.5), and it is unclear if the prints originally bore a different title. Reinier van Noort has observed that each section appears to carry a coherent sequence, with an initial play and several counters.[2]
