Folia 783-784 of the MS ⅩⅩⅣ were copied by Apostolo Zeno in 1699 from the MS M.383, an Italian fencing manual authored by Fiore de'i Liberi in ca. 1404. The original currently rests in the Collezione Fontanini of the Biblioteca Guarneriana in San Daniele del Friuli, Italy. This copy comprises only Liberi's preface, whic Zeno transcribed for his colleague Giusto Cardinal Fontanini and sent on 4 July 1699.[1] This manuscript was discovered decades before that from which it was copied, and was the first clue that Liberi had authored additional works aside from the well-known Pisani Dossi MS.
