The Codex Guelf 125.16 Extravagantes is a 17th century manuscript assumed to be related to the 2º Col. MS philos. 61 (either an earlier draft or a later copy), a German fencing manual based on treatises by Hans Talhoffer. The original currently rests in the holdings of Herzog August Bibliothek in Wolfenbüttel, Germany. Aside from the writings of Talhoffer, the work is also significant due to its reference to the MS I.33, to which the scribe appears to have had access.

[42v] In solchem Harnisch sindt die Kämpffer, wenn sie mit dem Schwerdt kämpffen wollen erschienen, und weil der grießwartte auch einen kleinen spieß mit sich Träget, so gebens die Figuren in Talhöffers Fechtbuche, daß die Kämpffer auch die spieße auff einander geschossen mit den Schwerdten pariret, und nachgehends erst gekampffet. [43r] Figur des inwendigen Schildes, dessen durchgehendes stängelein die Kämpffer ergrieffen und damit den Schildt regieret. Figur des außwendigen Schildes. [43v] Dieser schild ist auff denen Ecken ausgeschweiffet, und haben die Kämpffer einander darmit an Köpffen oder Hälsen, Armen und beinen, anfassen und zu boden oder zu sich reissen können.

The text that accompanies the one with the bald head—or the instructor—says "Sacerdos", the one accompanying the other person says "Scholaris". [44r] Diese Figur zeiget an daß auch die Clerici und münche in der Kampff kunst unterrichtet worden. Denn es ist ein gantz Msc. auff pergmen, darinnen die Lectiones alle in latein aber gar unleserlich beschrieben, vorhanden und stehet bey dem in der blatten oder dem lehrmeister alle zeit das wordt Sacerdos, und bey der andern person das Wortt Scholaris. Such small shields (or how shall I call them?) are called "bucklers" by Talhoffer. And the noble clerics and those who fought with the messer or the short sword have used them for parrying. [44v] Solche kleine schildgen, oder wie ich es nennen soll, werden bey den Talhöver Buckeller genenet, und haben solche die Herrn Clerici und die mit dem messer oder kurtzen schwerden gefochten zum pariren gebrauchet.
