The 8 ARS MIL 1090/61 is a copy of Grůndtliche vñ eigentlichte Beschreibung der Fechtkunst, a German fencing manual published in 1620 by Hans Wilhelm Schöffer; sandwiched between the first and second halves of Schöffer's treatise are over eighty additional leaves upon which is recorded an anonymous handwritten treatise on rapier fencing of unknown origin. The original currently rests in the holdings of the Niedersächsische Staats- und Universitätsbibliothek Göttingen in Göttingen, Germany.
