The Codex I.6.4º.3 is a nationality::German fencing manual created in the 1450s.cn The original currently rests in the holdings of the Universitätsbibliothek Augsburg in Augsburg, Germany. This manuscript is commonly attributed to Jud Lew, though in fact the text only cites him as author of a few of its sections. The rest of the manuscript is an anonymous compilation text consisting of treatises on a variety of martial topics by several different masters who stood in the tradition of Johannes Liechtenauer. This manuscript may have been a source for Paulus Hector Mair's 16th century compendia.

| This codex is from Dr. Waßmannsdorf in Heidelberg, who worked with it for: "Ringkunst des deutschen Mittelalters mit 119 Ringerpaaren von Albrecht Dürer" (Leipzig). M. G. Priber 1870 – Was used by H. Dr W. Ott,[?] the same master of the art of wrestling (ff 85r - 95v) that is mentioned in the book (pp 139 - 156--originally only to 154, because only which is copied from our manuscript could be attached, and the remainder from another). In the notes to the preface (p. iv) of the codex is, however, the abbreviation according to the owner (on p 124v), wherein was added to the name of Jeremiah "Praelitta", a false interpretation of "p'hta", which is simply an abbreviation of the word Propheta. The whole thing may be no different than a feather sample [?] of Hanns Deichsler and not the name of an old fencing master, as was previously suspected.

Lew's Fechtbuch (Codex Ⅰ.6.4º.3) is a German fencing manual created in the mid 15th century.[1] The original currently rests in the holdings of the Universitätsbibliothek Augsburg in Augsburg, Germany. The teachings in this manuscript are commonly attributed to Lew, though in fact the text only cites him as author of a few of its sections (mostly erroneously).[2] The rest of the manuscript is an anonymous compilation text consisting of treatises on a variety of martial topics by several different masters who stood in the tradition of Johannes Liechtenauer. This manuscript may have been a source for Paulus Hector Mair's 16th century compendia.
