Lew's Fechtbuch (Codex Ⅰ.6.4º.3) is a German fencing manual created in the mid 15th century.[1] The original currently rests in the holdings of the Universitätsbibliothek Augsburg in Augsburg, Germany. The teachings in this manuscript are commonly attributed to Lew, though in fact the text only cites him as author of a few of its sections (mostly erroneously).[2] The rest of the manuscript is an anonymous compilation text consisting of treatises on a variety of martial topics by several different masters who stood in the tradition of Johannes Liechtenauer. This manuscript may have been a source for Paulus Hector Mair's 16th century compendia.
