The Codices 10825 and 10826 are a two-volume 16th century German fencing manual commissioned by Paulus Hector Mair and commonly dated to the 1550s.[citation needed] They currently rest in the holdings of the Österreichische Nationalbibliothek in Vienna, Austria. Illustrated by the renowned painter Jörg Breu the Younger and produced at great personal expense, this manuscript is one of the three versions of Opus Amplissimum de Arte Athletica, Mair's enormous compendium of martial arts teachings. It reproduces both the German text of the MSS Dresd.C.93/C.94 and the Latin text of the Cod.icon. 393, and expands upon both of its predecessors with additional content apparently sourced from manuscripts to which Mair had newly gained access.
