The Cod.icon. 393 is a two-volume 16th century German manuscript commissioned by Paulus Hector Mair and commonly dated to the 1540s.[citation needed] They currently rest in the holdings of the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek in Munich, Germany. Illustrated by the renowned painter Jörg Breu the Younger and produced at great personal expense, this manuscript is one of the three versions of Opus Amplissimum de Arte Athletica, Mair's enormous compendium of martial arts teachings.
